Power!

Power! (known as Critical Mass in Europe) is a computer game developed by Simon Francis in 1985 for the Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum.

Plot

The player operates a rocket-powered hovercraft whose mission is to destroy an enemy transfer beam that is protected not only by long-distance enemy raiders and mines, but also molecular disorientation that sucks the energy from the player's attack craft.

Gameplay

The player may control the hovercraft in either a normal joystick operational mode or with vectored movement. When the player pushes forward on the joystick, the hovercraft accelerates, and when pulling back on the joystick, speed decreases.

Reception

In 1988, Dragon reviewed Power!, and gave the game 4 out of 5 stars.

PoweredUSB

PoweredUSB, also known as Retail USB, USB PlusPower, and USB +Power, is an addition to the Universal Serial Bus standard that allows for higher-power devices to obtain power through their USB host instead of requiring an independent power supply or external AC adapter. It is mostly used in point-of-sale equipment, such as receipt printers and barcode readers.

History

PoweredUSB, as a proprietary variant of USB, was developed and proposed by IBM, Berg (now FCI), NCR and Microsoft between 1998 and 1999, with the last revision (0.8g) issued in 2004. The specification is not endorsed by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF). IBM, who owns patents to PoweredUSB, charges a licensing fee for its use.

PoweredUSB was licensed by Hewlett-Packard, Cyberdata, Fujitsu, Wincor and others.

Implementation

PoweredUSB uses a more complex connector than standard USB, maintaining the standard USB 1.x/2.0 interface for data communications and adding a second connector for power. Physically, it is essentially two connectors stacked such that the bottom connector accepts a standard USB plug and the top connector takes a power plug.

Power (2014 Telugu film)

Power is a 2014 Telugu action comedy film written and directed by K. S. Ravindra and produced by Rockline Venkatesh under the banner Rockline Entertainments, both marking their debut in Telugu cinema. It features Ravi Teja playing a dual role with Hansika Motwani and Regina Cassandra playing the female lead roles. S. Thaman composed the music while Gautham Raju edited the film. Arthur A. Wilson and Jayanan Vincent handled the film's cinematography. The film revolves around two similar looking people, Baldev Sahay - a corrupt ACP in Kolkata and Tirupathi - a person aspiring to become a police officer in Hyderabad. The home minister of Kolkata recruits Tirupathi to play as Baldev to catch a gangster rescued by Baldev. Rest of the story is all about why Baldev became a corrupt cop and how Tirupathi executed the unfinished mission of Baldev.

Production began on 11 December 2013. The film's talkie part was shot in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangkok while two songs were shot in Bulgaria marking it the first Telugu film to be shot there. Principal photography ended on 14 August 2014. The film released on 12 September 2014 to positive reviews from critics and was a commercial success.

Stojan Batič

Stojan Batič (2 February 1925 – 17 September 2015) was a Slovene sculptor. Mostly a figurative artist, he is particularly known for his sculptures exhibited in many public places in Slovenia.

Life

Batič was born in a working-class family in Trbovlje, a mining town in central Slovenia, then part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Already as a teenager, he worked in the local coal mine. At the age of 19, he joined the partisan resistance, which fought the Nazi German forces. After World War II, he was the first to enroll at the newly established Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Ljubljana, where he studied sculpture under Boris Kalin and Frančišek Smerdu. In 1957, he received a scholarship, which enabled him to study in Paris with the sculptor Ossip Zadkine.

Batič lived and worked in Ljubljana. In 1995, he had a show at Ljubljana City Gallery. In 2015, the Jakopič Gallery held a retrospective exhibition of his work under the title "The Man and The Myth" (Človek in mit).

Bati (Fiji)

Bati are the traditional warriors of the Fiji Islands the word itself loosely translated means soldier, bodyguard in Fijian. it is derived from the word meaning teeth or edge and In old Fiji two types of subjection were recognized called Qali and Bati, The Qali was a province or town subject to a Chief town and Bati denotes those which are not directly subject but less respected than the Qali, the Bati bordered an area subject to the Chief and provided him with a service, and from here derives the terms Mataqali and Bati.

Bati is now understood in Fijian Culture as the term for the island's traditional warrior class or caste. The Bati are traditionally among the strongest Fijians.

Each Fijian village has an intricate traditional infrastructure and a Chieftain will have a Bati Clan traditionally aligned with him.

Warrior Caste

There were several class of warrior or Bati, for example you could have Bati Balavu, these warriors would be the outer guard and would guard the chief from a great distance, then you would have Bati Leka these were the inner guard and bodyguards of the Chief, there was also Bati Kadi which were mercenaries for hire.

Bati (woreda)

Bati is one of the woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Oromia Zone, Bati is bordered on the south by Dawa Harewa, on the southeast by the Argobba special woreda, on the west and north by the Debub Wollo Zone, and on the east by the Afar Region. Towns in this woreda include its administrative center, the market town of Bati. The towns of Degan and Gerba were administratively part of Bati prior to the 2007 census, but were then transferred to Kalu woreda.

A notable landmark of this woreda is the Aneba forest. These 53 hectares of woodland are one of the few remaining stands of Afrocarpus gracilior, an indigenous tree locally known as Zegba, in Ethiopia. At least one tree in this woodland, known as Aliyaw, is 700 years old.

Demographics

Based on the 2007 national census conducted by the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia (CSA), this woreda has a total population of 107,387, of whom 53,731 are men and 53,656 women; 16,710 or 15.56% are urban inhabitants. With an area of 1,132.16 square kilometers, Bati has a population density of 94.85, which is less than the Zone average of 131.78 persons per square kilometer. A total of 23,417 households were counted in this woreda, resulting in an average of 4.59 persons to a household, and 22,531 housing units. The majority of the inhabitants were Muslim, with 96.06% reporting that as their religion, while 2.99% of the population said they practiced Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity.
